In the year behind us, Diplo Academy has, once again, achieved excellent results in the field of e-learning. With over two decades of track record in digital policy and diplomacy online training, the academy remains a pivotal force in shaping the future of education on a global scale.

Course success and inclusivity

Diplo Academy successfully delivered 20 courses in 2023,  drawing in 492 participants. The standout achievement was a 92% course completion rate, a testament to the academy’s efficacy in online and in situ programmes. Notably, 49% of the participants were female, and 70% hailed from developing and least developed countries, showcasing a commitment to fostering global inclusivity and diversity in the pursuit of capacity development.

Global commitment to innovation

With a legacy of more than 20 years, Diplo Academy remains on track with the educational developments in the fields of digital policy and diplomacy. The academy’s commitment to adapting to emerging trends and technologies underscores its dedication to providing cutting-edge and innovative learning experiences.

Research insights

Learnopoly’s 2023 research offers a comprehensive review of the advantages and developments shaping the landscape of online education. Key findings include a remarkable average increase of 25-60% in material absorption, surpassing conventional classroom settings. Online learning proved to reduce learning time by 25-60% compared to traditional in-person methods, in line with the academy’s commitment to accessibility.

Furthermore, the environmental impact of e-learning was highlighted, with 87% less energy consumption and 85% fewer CO2 emissions per student compared to traditional university courses. The environmental benefits of e-learning contribute to broader sustainability goals, enhance cost efficiency, improve accessibility, facilitate global collaboration, and position educational institutions as pioneers in adopting innovative and eco-friendly approaches to learning.

Effectiveness of guided learning

The comparative study of guided (cohort-based) and self-paced courses revealed a significant disparity in completion rates. Guided courses boasted an impressive 90% or more completion rate, while self-paced courses languished as low as 3%. Diplo Academy’s outstanding 92% course completion rate aligns with the broader trends observed in e-learning, emphasising the effectiveness of cohort-based approaches and reinforcing the importance of structured learning environments for successful educational outcomes.

Active engagement in online discussions emerged as a critical factor, with a 72% likelihood of forgetting material in passive learning methods, contrasting with a 69% likelihood of remembering material through active engagement.

Trends shaping the future

Research shows that corporate training is expected to heavily leverage e-learning platforms, constituting 50% of all training by 2025, a substantial increase from pre-COVID levels. Mobile learning is rising with an anticipated annual market growth of 27% through 2028, reflecting a growing demand for flexible learning options.

Virtual reality-based training is poised for unprecedented growth, expected to exceed 900% by 2023, reaching a staggering $14.5 billion. The e-learning market itself has reached an estimated value surpassing $325 billion, underscoring the profound significance and continued growth of the digital education sector.

Diplo Academy’s 2023 not only validates its commitment to excellence in e-learning but also to diversity, sustainability, and innovation. As the digital education sector continues its ascendancy in the dynamic landscape of the digital age, Diplo Academy remains dedicated to providing transformative learning experiences for individuals and organisations across the globe.
