US President Donald Trump has announced plans to speak by telephone with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday to discuss ways to end the war in Ukraine. He also intends to call Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and NATO leaders, expressing hope that the talks might result in a ceasefire, one of his key campaign promises.
The announcement follows the collapse of peace talks in Turkey, which failed to produce a truce. Meanwhile, the Kremlin confirmed preparations for the call and suggested it would soon present Ukraine with ceasefire conditions.
