Top U.S. Africa envoy promotes economic engagement in congressional testimony

Ambassador Troy Fitrell, the former U.S. ambassador to Guinea and now acting assistant secretary of state for African affairs under President Donald Trump, will make his first official appearance before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee’s Subcommittee on Africa and Global Health Policy. This follows his recent presentation of updated U.S. priorities for Africa at the Africa CEO Forum in Abidjan. His testimony is expected to focus on countering China’s growing influence on the continent, particularly in the commercial sphere.
