Vienna Cyber Diplomacy Day is organised in the framework of the Joint Swiss-Serbian Chairmanships of the OSCE (2014-2015). Join us for a dynamic discussion of cyber-challenges for modern diplomacy where practicing diplomats and experts will cover a wide range of issues including the changing landscape in which diplomacy operates, the emergence of new Internet topics on diplomatic agendas, and the use of new digital tools for diplomatic activities. The Day's programme combines dynamic policy dialogue with practical CyberLab demonstrations.

CyberLab: A demonstration of how cybercrime is committed and fought in practice, and how e-tools are used in diplomacy, including:  

  • a tour of the DarkNet 
  • how cyber-fraud is conducted
  • use and misuse of BitCoin (cyber currency)
  • how to preserve diplomatic institutional memory in the digital era  

Facilitators:

  • Dr Edgar R Weippl, Science Director of SBA Research and Assistant Professor, Vienna University of Technology
  • Bjoern Christian Wolf, Research Fellow at DiploFoundation and the London School of Economics
  • Hannes Kulovits, Head of Digital Archives at the Austrian State Archives 

Practical presentations are hosted by the Vienna University of Technology, and DiploFoundation.
