[Briefing] Internet governance in June 2016

28 June 2016 -

Geneva, Switzerland; local hubs; and online

Event description

In what is seen as a particular busy month for digital policy, several developments are likely to have a far-reaching impact. The FCC’s net neutrality rules are upheld in US courts; the UK Parliament votes in the Snoopers’ Charter, while a Russian bill aims to make encryption backdoors mandatory in messenger apps. The Special Rapporteur’s report highlights the role of the private sector, while the EU issues guidelines on the sharing economy. What other main Internet governance updates took place in June, and how will they shape future developments?
