Students graduate Master in Contemporary Diplomacy – 2019

Nine students have just graduated Master in Contemporary Diplomacy from the University of Malta and DiploFoundation. Four of the students undertook a specialisation in Internet governance.
The graduates and their research topics were:
- Amir Kiyaei – Assessing feasibility for a binding international legal instrument on Cyberweapons: A maturity model approach
- Catherine Kane – Humanitarian public diplomacy: International calls to action in the digital era
- Elsa Wilkin-Armbrister – Nation branding and the role of public diplomacy in assisting small island states in developing strong nation brands
- Isabelle Mutinta Matyola-Lemba – The effects of overlapping membership to regional bodies in conflict management: A case study of SADC and ICGLLR in the DRC
- José Federico Guillermo Bass-Villarreal – Consular diplomacy as means to strengthening institutional relationship with the Mexican diaspora in the United States
- Kasek Galgal – Impacts of the Internet on financial inclusion in small island developing states
- Samantha Priyadarshana Weerasinghe Pathirana – Human rights as an instrument of US foreign policy: A case study with reference to Sri Lanka from 2005-2014
- Souhila Amazouz – International cyber security diplomatic negotiations: The role of Africa in inter-regional cooperation for a global approach on the security and stability of cyberspace
- Suoma Nangombe Musilika – The evaluation of low trade between the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the East African Community (EAC)
The graduation ceremony took place on 22 November at the Jesuit’s Church in Valletta, Malta. View the photo gallery.
The graduation was the culmination of months of study. DiploFoundation congratulates the students on their graduation, and thanks its faculty members who supervised the work of these graduates.
The blended learning Master/Postgraduate Diploma in Contemporary Diplomacy, offered through the University’s Department of International Relations, includes a 10-day residential workshop in Malta, followed by 16 to 20 months of online study. Applicants may select Internet Governance as an area of specialisation within the Master/Postgraduate Diploma in Contemporary Diplomacy. The next programme starts in February 2020. Find out more.
