Diplo director at NY lecture on ‘Digital magna carta’

26 March 2015 -

New York, USA

Event description

On the heels of the Congressional decision on net neutrality, the discussion around Internet governance is moving into a decisive phase. Many have suggested the adoption of a new ‘digital social contract’, with Tim Berners-Lee calling for a Digital Magna Carta. How can the globalisation of ICANN be achieved? Can we strike the delicate balance between ongoing innovation for the Internet and the public interests of security? Diplo director Dr Jovan Kurbalija will speak during a New York event on the subject.

[Update] A digital magna carta between two doors: read Dr Jovan Kurbalija’s reflections in a blog post first published in the Huffington Post on 4 April.
[Update] The event was livestreamed; watch the recording from the event. Livestream was provided by the Internet Society New York chapter.

Diplo director Dr Jovan Kurbalija is one of the main speakers of a New America NYC event on A digital magna carta: Internet governance and a new social contract. The event will take place in New York, at 199 Lafayette Street, Suite 3B New York, NY 10012, at 18:30-20:15 EDT (22:30-00:15 UTC; 23:30-01:15 CET)
