Get in touch if you would like your work to be featured on our Alumni blog.

Diplo Circle Magazine

The year 2019 has been particularly active for DiploFoundation faculty, alumni, and staff members. Some have published academic papers, books, and opinion pieces, while others held presentations at conferences, international organisations, news channels, web debates, and other events.

We appreciate the efforts pursued by the Diplo family and have brought some of them together in the first issue of the Diplo Circle Magazine. This issue features an opinion piece by Prof. Jovan Kurbalija, a reading recommendation by Prof. G. R. Berridge, and a tribute to the late Ambassador Paramjit (Pummy) Sahai.

Read it on Issuu or download the PDF file.

Information and communication technology for African livelihood

Arthur Carindal N'guessan   25 May 2020   Alumni, Diplo Blog, Diplomacy, E-tools

In 2019, the International Telecommunication Union’s (ITU) Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) published the report Measuring digital development. The report presented several important facts and figures, including that an estimated 4.1 billion people have used the Internet in 2019. Among them, 83.9% came from developed countries (DC), while only 19.6% came from the least developed countries (LDCs).

Waking up to the 'new normal' or What does a post-COVID-19 world look like in small island developing states (SIDS)?

Tracy Hackshaw   14 May 2020   Diplo Blog, Diplomacy

We need to ensure we digitalise all of our business processes as to enable the effective digital transformation of our governments, businesses, and educational institutions so that the disruptive solutions brought by the global pandemic, including remote work, digital health, e-learning, and fintech, are collectively recognised as a pivot point in our history.

There... I’ve done it... I’ve met the challenge of how many currently fashionable buzzwords and jargon I can stuff into a single sentence.

Exploring the potential of official/state-owned/institutional social media accounts in the fight against misinformation

Manyi Arrey Orok-Tambe   30 Apr 2020   Alumni, Diplo Blog, Diplomacy

The world is driven by information. That is almost an understatement in this era. In today’s hyperconnected world, marked by unprecedented opportunities for innovation and transformation, information stands as the foundation of all possible processes which affect human life and evolution. Staggering levels of information availability and access, spurred by information and communication technologies, have steadily fostered the understanding that the search for information is inextricably linked to the quest for individual and collective security and development.
