9th Geneva Engage Awards recognise International Geneva’s digital outreach excellence

Geneva, Switzerland. 1 February 2024.

The Geneva Internet Platform (GIP, run by DiploFoundation), with the valued support of the Republic and Canton of Geneva, proudly announced the winners of the 9th Geneva Engage Awards. Since its inception in 2016, the Geneva Engage initiative has been instrumental in assessing and acknowledging the dynamic interplay between International Geneva and global stakeholders, particularly in digital outreach.

The Geneva Engage Awards aim to recognise the commendable efforts of International Geneva actors in harnessing the power of digital platforms to engage with communities worldwide on critical policy discussions spanning diverse domains such as development, human rights, health, environment, and digital topics.

This year’s awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of organisations across three main categories: International Organisations, Non-Governmental Organisations and Associations, and Permanent Representations. In addition, special awards highlight innovative approaches to digital engagement amidst evolving digital landscapes.

International Organisations:

  1. International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)
  2. World Health Organisation (WHO)
  3. United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD)

Non-Governmental Organisations and Associations:

  1. World Heart Federation (WHF)
  2. World Council of Churches

Permanent Representations:

  1. Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations in Geneva
  2. Permanent Mission of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Nations Office in Geneva
  3. Delegation of the European Union to the UN and other international organisations in Geneva

Effective and Innovative Events Award:

  • United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) eWeek 2023

Accessibility Award:

  • UK Mission to the WTO, UN, and Other International Organisations in Geneva

Honourable Mentions:

  • United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)
  • World Economic Forum (WEF)

Reflecting on meaningful engagement: The 9th Geneva Engage Awards not only celebrated excellence but also encouraged reflection on the essence of meaningful engagement in the digital age. With over 1 billion people worldwide living with disabilities, ensuring web accessibility emerges as a paramount concern. This year’s event prompted critical conversations on overcoming obstacles to online engagement and fostering inclusive digital spaces.
