Dr Benson Ncube is a visionary technology leader and telemedicine expert with over 25 years of experience in ICT and digital health innovation, including more than a decade dedicated to telehealth strategy development and implementation. Holding a PhD in Telemedicine, he has established himself as a national and international authority in the field of telehealth and health informatics.
Dr Ncube has made significant contributions to the advancement of digital health in Botswana through groundbreaking research, peer-reviewed publications, and the development of the country’s first comprehensive recommended Telemedicine Strategy. He is also a reviewer of top and high-impact digital health and telemedicine journals like Pos One, Digital Health, Frontiers, JMIR, BMC Research Services, BMJ and others. His leadership extends to championing telehealth solutions for both urban and underserved communities, advocating for digital health policy and integrating AI-powered technologies in healthcare service delivery.
As the developer of an AI-powered assistant designed to support the management of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) in Botswana, Dr Ncube continues to bridge the gap between technology and patient-centred care. His chatbot project reflects his desire and commitment to leveraging digital innovation to improve health outcomes, empower patients, and support healthcare professionals with timely and reliable health information. He currently serves as Vice President of the Health Informatics Association of Botswana (HIASWANA) and has presented at international conferences, contributing to the growth of telemedicine capacity in Southern Africa. Dr Ncube is passionate about mentoring, capacity building, building strong stakeholder partnerships, and driving sustainable telehealth programs that positively impact public health systems.
