Event description
The 9th meeting of the Council of Europe Committee on Artificial Intelligence (CAI) is scheduled to be held on 23 – 25 January 2024 in Strasbourg, France.
The 9th meeting is significant as it is expected to progress the Draft Framework Convention. At its 8th meeting in December, the CAI decided to make the Draft Framework Convention that contains the outcomes of the 2nd reading public. This document will serve as the basis for the 3rd and final reading. It does not preclude the final outcome of negotiations in the CAI.
According to the preliminary timeline for the negotiations, the plan is to finalise the draft convention by March 2024 and adopt it at the ministerial level in May 2024.
