Based on eight years of research and interviews with over 160 professional diplomats, the author presents information on the structures, operation, and working style of the foreign ministries of China, India, Japan, Singapore, and Thailand. The book has been hailed for offering new insight into the countries covered, as well as for its examination of the cultural dimension of the diplomatic process.
