The AI detection debate: The path to truly innovative and effective AI detection solutions

Thursday, 10 July 2025, 14:00 – 15:30 CEST, Room R | Official session page

The workshop, co-organised by WITNESS and the Swiss Government, addresses the urgent challenge of AI-generated synthetic media and the limitations of current detection tools. During the event, the TRIED (Truly Innovative and Effective Detection) Benchmark is launched. The Benchmark introduces a new framework to evaluate AI detection tools based on six key considerations of contextual adaptability, transparency, accessibility, fairness, durability, and integration into verification ecosystems.

Diplo’s Executive Director, Jovan Kurbalija, joins the panel discussion to explore policy interventions, governance mechanisms, and real-world use cases, ultimately advocating for responsible and inclusive AI detection solutions that uphold information integrity and democratic resilience.

Location: Hall 4, via entrance from Hall 3.
