After the 16/17 December European summit in Brussels, DiploFoundation
Fellow Richard Werly will draw lessons from the ongoing EU response to the
financial crisis. He will try to answer questions such as: Is the creation
of a permanent stability mechanism enough to bring confidence to the
eurozone? Does the possibility of a eurozone implosion exist? Is Germany
the uncontested EU leader today? Can Europe’s economy achieve a comeback in
2011? Isn’t it time to think of a new phase for the European single
currency, which Estonia will join in January 2011? What are the prospects
for the EU in 2011?
