On 11–12 March 2025, Diplo and the Geneva Internet Platform (GIP) participated in the Freedom Online Coalition (FOC) Multistakeholder Consultation on the WSIS+20 Review and GDC Implementation.
Hosted by the Republic of Estonia (FOC Chair), Kingdom of the Netherlands (FOC Steering Committee Member) and Canada, this event offered a platform for FOC Member States, the FOC Advisory Network, and other key stakeholders in Geneva to:
- Discuss agreed language and other text proposals on key WSIS-themes related to the multistakeholder approach and human rights that Member States can use as guidance in the negotiations;
- Discuss avenues for stakeholder engagement around the WSIS+20 Process;
- Formulate FOC shared ideas regarding the implementation of international AI and Data Governance as envisioned in the Global Digital Compact;
- Enable the exchange of information and knowledge on these issues between governments, FOC Advisory Network members, key UN organisations in Geneva, and other partners and stakeholders.
Diplo/GIP – through Sorina Teleanu, Director of Knowledge – facilitated a workshop on the WSIS+20 process.
