Marilia Maciel, Director of Digital Trade and Economic Security, Diplo, will participate in the Brazilian Internet Forum 2025 (Brazil IGF). Maciel will be speaking at the 27 May session titled ‘The infrastructure of cloud computing and sovereignty: the role of the state and the contributions of multistakeholderism.’

This session discusses the interplay between cloud governance and the principles of internet governance, with special focus on how policy decisions affect the sovereignty of states. This workshop brings together representatives for a high-level multistakeholder debate addressing the main opportunities and challenges affecting the topic in the Brazilian scenario. Maciel will address the geopolitical pitfalls of Brazil’s data centre strategy in her presentation.
