The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is an international environmental treaty on climate change that was negotiated and signed at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED). Signed by 154 countries, the UNFCCC entered into force on 21 March 1994. The UNFCCC is based in Bonn and as of 2020, has 197 signatories. The Conference of the Parties (COP) as the supreme decision-making body meets once a year to address climate change challenges.
