RIPE NCC is one of the five Regional Internet Registries (RIRs), the organisations that manage the allocation and registration of Internet number resources - Internet protocol (IP) addresses and autonomous system (AS) numbers - within a particular region of the world.

RIPE NCC provides services related to the assignment and allocation of Internet number resources in Europe, the Middle East and parts of Central Asia. Other services offered by the organisation include: development, operation and maintenance of the RIPE Database and operation of an Internet Routing Registry; operation of K-root, one of the world’s 13 root name server clusters; Reverse Domain Name System (rDNS) delegations; and resource certification (RPKI). RIPE NCC operated by a set of policies and procedures that are proposed, discussed and accepted by its members and the RIPE community.

The organisation is also involved in capacity building initiatiatives, providing training on issues such as: IPv6, routing security, DNSSEC, etc.
