Your starting point to choosing the right platform is: how many people will connect to my meeting or event? If you're organising several meetings, or in charge of your organisation's events, you might consider a mix of platforms. Keep your options open to ensure maximum flexibility.

Collaborative platforms

If you missed Microsoft teams from the survey above, that's because this platform is often classified as a collaborative platform, meaning that it combines a meeting tool with its other team-working tools such as its Office applications. Other popular services include Slack and Cisco’s WebEx Teams.

These platforms are ideal for a working environment in which small and ad hoc meetings are organised regularly. These collaborative tools offer a quick office response, such as writing documents, tracking project development, file sharing in company environments, and video and audio communication.

Not all collaborative efforts need to happen through these platforms, however. The platforms featured in the survey also offer several features. Plus, you can always combine platforms (such as Zoom or Webex, and Google Docs).
