Diplo at third South Eastern Europe Dialogue on Internet Governance (SEEDIG)

DiploFoundation will participate in the third annual meeting of the South Eastern European Dialogue on Internet Governance (SEEDIG). The event will take place in Ohrid, Macedonia, from 24–25 May 2017. It will be hosted by the Agency for Electronic Communications, with the Ministry of Information Society and Administration, and the Macedonian Academic Research Network (MARnet) as local institutional partners. The overarching theme of the meeting will be: Digital development: turning challenges into opportunities.

Diplo will be present at the meeting in various ways. Diplo’s Vladimir Radunovic will moderate the session, Cybersecurity: National and regional priorities and co-operation. The session will explore questions such as: What should the priorities of cybersecurity be? What is the level of regional SEE co-operation?

Diplo’s Arvin Kamberi will be moderating the session, How can the IoT develop and be implemented in the right way? The session will look at how the IoT, when used properly, can be used to our benefit, bearing in mind the sensitivity of data shared.

Moreover, Diplo’s experts will support the SEEDIG Youth School and the SEEDIG Meeting Fellowship Programme, which will take place before the SEEDIG. The Youth School will bring together 18 students from the SEE region for a brief introduction to Internet governance. The Fellowship Programme (16 fellows) is aimed at supporting the capacity development of regional stakeholders in order for them to be able to actively participate in national, regional, and international Internet governance and digital policy processes.

Diplo has been a supporter of SEEDIG since its launch in 2015. The initiative is dedicated to open, inclusive, multistakeholder discussions on Internet governance and digital policy issues between stakeholders in the SEE and neighbouring countries.
