DiploFoundation will participate in the fourth annual meeting of the South Eastern European Dialogue on Internet Governance (SEEDIG). Held under the theme ‘Digital transformation and digital society in SEE’, the event will take place on 23–24 May 2018, in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

The meeting will be held under the honorary patronage of the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia, and is hosted by the Digitas Institute.

Diplo will be present at the meeting in various ways. Diplo’s Vladimir Radunovic will moderate the session ‘Cybersecurity: National frameworks and regional cooperation’. The session will explore roles and responsibilities of different stakeholders, and similarities and different approaches in building cybersecurity capacities. It will look for venues for regional cooperation, and try to map national security frameworks.

Diplo’s Arvin Kamberi will be moderating the session ‘Data-driven technologies: Expectations and practical implementation in SEE’. The session will explore the data-driven technologies of the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, and blockchain. Will the labour market need to reform as a result of the progress made by these technologies? The discussions will revolve around the new opportunities and limitations of data-driven technologies in SEE.

Moreover, Diplo’s experts will support the SEEDIG Youth School and the SEEDIG Fellowship Programme, which will take place on 22 May. The Youth School offer regional youth a space to learn, network, exchange ideas, and prepare to actively participate in SEEDIG and other Internet governance processes.

Diplo has been a supporter of SEEDIG since its launch in 2015. The initiative is dedicated to open, inclusive, multistakeholder discussions on Internet governance and digital policy issues between stakeholders in the SEE and neighbouring countries.
