Jovan Kurbalija’s An Introduction to Internet governance in Serbian (BCS) – Uvod u upravljanje internetom – was yesterday launched during the 19th Serbian Telecommunications Forum (Telfor), in Belgrade.

The event was attended by Serbian high-level officials, and around 150 representatives of engineering communities, telecom and ICT companies and providers, state institutions and the Press.

Over 45 students are expected to graduate from ISOC's Next Generation Leaders (NGL) eLearning course, offered in collaboration with DiploFoundation. The students formed two classes: an English-speaking class, and for the first time this year, a French-speaking class.

The course, which ended last week, offered six months of academic training on topics related to the Internet ecosystem, which included historical and technical background, issues related to Internet governance and ICT policy, and emerging issues. The course took place on Diplo's e-learning platform.

The third phase of the Internet Governance Capacity Building Programme (IGCBP) – the Policy Research Phase – kick-started last week with a stimulating schedule of theoretical lecture texts and practical assignments.

Twenty-nine participants are taking part in this phase. The course follows a 'project-based' approach, in that each participant is expected to write a policy research proposal by the end of the course.

However, the final decisions on the future of the eurozone and the Greek debt crisis will be taken during on Wednesday during a new EU leaders' meeting. For this reason, our webinar scheduled to take place tomorrow (Tuesday) has been postponed till Thursday, 27th October, at 15:00 CET.

Over 100 participants successfully completed the Advanced Phase of the Internet Governance Capacity Building Programme. Among them were Andra Giurgiu and Ricardo Patara, two of the best Foundation Phase students, who were awarded a sponsorship by Verisign to continue with their advanced studies.
