Safeguarding foreign interests, and mediation and facilitation, are two types of good offices offered by Switzerland. Both types are about bridge-building, and reflect the Swiss ‘specialty’ in contributing to peace and security.

The Republic of Kazakhstan, gaining its independence after the USSR dissolution, aspired to become an active member of the global community. The geographical position of Kazakhstan makes it a natural crossroads for major transit corridors from North to South and from East to West. It is located at the very heart of the Eurasian continent. Kazakhstani foreign policy, therefore, mainly sees itself as the connecting bridge between different countries.

The MoU builds on the established cooperation between Diplo and the Learning Network for Capacity Development (LenCD) through which the two institutions have worked together over the last couple years to offer an online course on Capacity Development.

Yesterday, Mexico, Malta, and Switzerland renewed their memorandum of understanding on diplomatic training. This cooperation was initiated by the Instituto Matias Romero (Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and DiploFoundation (established by Malta and Switzerland) some 11 years ago. Since that time, more than 350 diplomats have been engaged in diplomatic training. The two institutions also developed and delivered a course on Migration and Development.

New research on Internet governance, digital diplomacy, public diplomacy, and international relations

Time for celebration! After months of hard and creative work, thirteen students graduated with the Master in Contemporary Diplomacy in late November this year. This programme is run by Diplo in partnership with the University of Malta.
