Five Years of Teaching Humanitarian Diplomacy

DiploFoundation, in partnership with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, is celebrating five years of teaching Humanitarian Diplomacy – a diplomatic field that is essential for building effective foundations for humanitarian operations and programmes.
In the chaos which often accompanies an emergency situation, strong and persuasive humanitarian diplomacy is often vital to ensure assistance for the vulnerable, swiftly and smoothly. Humanitarian diplomacy includes advocacy, negotiation, partnership creation and maintenance, communication, formal and informal agreements, to put in place the operations that can make a difference in emergency situations.
How to most effectively teach the necessary knowledge and skills to aspiring humanitarian diplomats? What is the toolkit that the humanitarian diplomat should possess?
This event will look into the ways in which humanitarian diplomacy is taught, in particular looking at the synthesis of on-the-job and online learning.
