Internet Governance Capacity Building Programme 2007 Based on the success of the two previous rounds and the high level of interest, this year’s programme will take place from March to October 2007. The research on current Internet governance issues will continue throughout 2007, aiming at contributing discussions and providing policy-makers worldwide with useful resources especially on issues that concern developing countries.
The 2007 Selection Process We received 570 applications for 138 places. The standard of applicants was exceptionally high and as such difficult choices had to be made for the selection process.
The regional composition of this year’s programme is made of participants from Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America & the Caribbean (LAC), the Middle-East a & North Africa and South East Asia & the Pacific. 135 applicants from 92 developing countries were chosen to participate in this year’s IGCBP. This year a new Spanish bilingual group was introduced to target Spanish-speaking participants thus reaching a broader number of people in the LAC region. Throughout 2007 we plan to organise comprehensive capacity-building activities focusing on Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, the Asia-Pacific region, and countries in transition, implemented through the growing community of skilful individuals – previous participants of the programme. |
