Web portals offer basic information, links to web resources, summaries of print resources and commentary on particular topics. Diplo portals are based on the briefcase system, a user-friendly application which facilitates the management of information from web-based or print sources. It is used to collect, organise, save and disseminate relevant information online.
Diplo’s web portals have been developed at different times, and for different purposes, including individual and collaborative research projects, study support materials, and conference preparation. The portals listed below are not currently updated or maintained, but they still guide the reader through a valuable collection of carefully selected and evaluated resources on a variety of diplomacy-related topics.

|
EU Diplomacy:
This portal, developed in 2003-2004 through the work of Diplo staff members and interns, examines the nuts and bolts of the EU diplomatic system and studies proposed reforms to EU foreign policy decision-making structures and methods of European-level diplomacy conduct.
African and Arab Charters on Human
Rights: These portals, developed in 2002-2003 through cooperation between the Human Dimension Programme, Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies and Diplo, examine the African and Arab Charters of Human Rights, focusing both on the similarities shared with their international counterparts, and the differences found in the articles and clauses related to the group, the role of women, and religion.
DiploDictionary:
The Diplomatic Dictionary, regularly updated with public contributions, is a collaborative attempt to create a dictionary of terminology used in diplomacy and
interna-tional relations. It aims to provide a resource that reflects the different national, cultural, religious and professional backgrounds of participants in international affairs.
DiploAlert:
Developed in 2002 as a knowledge management project aimed at systematizing web-based resources on diplomacy and international relations, DiploAlert is a searchable collection of Internet links on diplomacy and international relations.
Cultural
Diplomacy: This portal, developed in 2002 to support preparations for Diplo’s conference on Intercultural Communication and Diplomacy, offers a systematic and concise reading of definitions, instruments, and organs of bilateral cultural diplomacy, including a survey on the role of web cultural content in the conduct of modern diplomacy.
Art and Diplomacy:
Developed in 2002 as an individual research project, this portal

achieve their objectives.

Language and
Diplomacy: Developed in 2002-2003 to support conferences and courses on the topic, this portal offers an introduction to language and diplomacy related topics and a database of examples and resources about the use of language in diplomacy.
Diplomatic Language
Blunders: Diplomatic language blunders are sometimes just amusing; but more often they are dangerous and may lead to
miscommunication or in the worst case, a break-down in diplomatic relations. This collection of blunders, assembled in 2003, is intended to be interesting and also instructive as a showcase of the worst use of language by diplomats and other political figures.
Economic Diplomacy: This portal, developed in 2003, looks at various facets of modern economic diplomacy as a component of international relations.
Diplomacy on
Iraq: This portal, developed during 2002-2003, focuses on the Iraqi crisis from the perspective of diplomatic actors and diplomatic strategy, and offers resources on various positions and analyses of related UN resolutions.
Intern Developed Portals: The following portals were developed by Diplo’s first group of interns in 2003, as part of their knowledge management training.
