Information Management
Organisations that have an Internet presence have found that beyond the technology, a great deal of thought and effort goes into the management of information. The website can be an integral part of an organisation's internal and external communication strategy but to achieve this the approach toward the provision of information and services has had to be reassessed towards being more user-centred.
Areas we would like to examine are: the tools available for managing knowledge or information; sharing experiences of managing websites for administrative uses and functions that range from training through to the utilisation of the Internet as a medium of  negotiation.
Possible topics will include:
  • Web based Knowledge Management tools for International Organisations
  • Website as an Operational tool for International Organisations
  • Use of the web for Administration, Recruitment & Tenders
  • Use of the Internet for Training
  • Negotiating over the Internet
Internet and Security
The particular challenge for international organisations is to make information available whilst maintaining adequate levels of security that prohibit unauthorised access to restricted data. By examining what Internet security entails and the types of breaches in security that can occur, we will seek to create an awareness of what preventative measures can be taken.
Possible topics will include:
  • Managing Information Security Services in International Organisations
  • Protecting websites from politically-inspired hacker attacks
The Role of the Internet in Diplomacy and International Relations
The presence of the internet is becoming a significant factor in the development of international political incidents.
We will be considering the role the Internet plays in the unfolding of events in international relations and how different organisations have used the internet effectively.
Possible topics will include:
  • Web as a tool for Public Diplomacy for International Organisations
  • Websites as a medium for facilitating the work of permanent missions
  • Role of websites for the various players in international relations.
