The International Conference on Multistakeholder Diplomacy will contribute to the WSIS process leading up to Tunis 2005.
DiploFoundation is a non-profit organisation which works to assist all
countries, particularly those with limited resources, to participate meaningfully in international relations. Diplo promotes a multistakeholder approach, involving the participation of international organisations, civil society and other actors in international affairs. Diplo’s activities include education and training programs, research, and the development of information and communications technologies for diplomatic activities.
This conference is a contribution of the Government of Malta to the WSIS process.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has promoted, and continues to actively promote Internet-related diplomacy issues. In this context, Malta has assisted participants from Commonwealth, as well as other developing countries, to attend ICT/Internet Governance courses held in Malta and online through its Commonwealth Third Country Training
Programme.
The Global Knowledge Partnership
(GKP) is a worldwide network committed to harnessing the potential of information and communication technologies (ICTs) for sustainable and equitable development.
Within the GKP framework, governments, civil society groups, donor agencies, private sector companies and inter-governmental organisations come together as equals to forge ‘multi-stakeholder partnerships’ (MSP), among different sectors sharing a common vision and goal.
The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation
(SDC) has always considered knowledge as a core resource for development. This is enhanced by the possibilities for networking and information exchange offered by new information technologies. The SDC established an “ICT for Development” (ICT4D) Division, which supports multistakeholder partnerships as well as multilateral institutions and initiatives..
