2. This cause was suggested to me by Professor Dietrich Kappeler in discussion during
this Conference.
3. The survey asked spouses to respond to a series of questions concerning their
opinions and experiences of their role. It was undertaken in preparation for a working
session during the 1998 EUFASA Conference on the "Role of The Diplomatic
Spouse/Partner in The 21st Century."
